The membership vote is scheduled to take place later this month
WASHINGTON, October 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Local union leaders representing Teamsters at North American Central School Bus met today to unanimously approve the Illinois Interim Cooperative Agreement. The five-year contract proposal will now go to members for a democratic ratification vote before the end of the month.
“This agreement brings each of our members at North American Central School Bus under a single, unified contract with a baseline standard that covers all Teamsters in that organization,” he said Matt Taibi, Head of Teamsters’ Passenger Transportation Division. “This will help us increase our strength in numbers and thereby raise standards and wages for all workers at North American Central.”
The treaty, which was negotiated for the first time with the participation of ordinary members, contains a number of other significant improvements. These include additional protections for members with disabilities, additional safety guidance added in light of the pandemic and the establishment of a joint union/employer committee to resolve disputes. Specifically, it is the Company’s first contract in which members participate in the Teamsters National 401(k) plan, to which the Company will make mandatory contributions.
Voting ends and ballots are counted November 1st.
If ratified, the agreement will expire September 30, 2027.
