NINGDE, China, October 17, 2022 /CNW/ — Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), a global leader in innovative new energy technologies, today announced that it has joined forces with Primergy Solar LLC (Primergy), a leading developer, owner and operator of electric utilities and… distributed solar systems and storage, for the record $1.2 billion Gemini Solar+Storage project outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Upon completion, Gemini will be one of the largest operating solar and storage projects in the US with a 690 MWac/966 MWdc solar array and 1,416 MWh of storage capacity. Earlier this year, Primergy completed a comprehensive and detailed procurement process, selecting several of the world’s leading equipment suppliers and construction partners for the Gemini project.
Primergy has developed an innovative DC-coupled system for the Gemini project that will maximize the efficiency from combining the solar array with the CATL storage system. CATL will supply Primergy Solar with EnerOne, a modular outdoor liquid-cooled battery energy storage system characterized by long life, high integration and a high level of security. With a lifespan of up to 10,000 cycles, the LFP-based battery product will contribute to the safe and reliable operation of the Gemini project. Primergy chose the EnerOne solution for Gemini because it uses advanced lithium phosphate chemistry that meets Primergy’s requirements for safe and reliable operations at its sites.
