
Cryptocurrency enthusiasts have petitioned on Twitter for the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics to be awarded Satoshi Nakamotothe pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin BTC/USD.
This comes days after the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced three recipients of the Nobel Prize in Economics: the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernankeand US economists Philip Dybvig and Douglas Diamond for her “research on banks and financial crises”.
Nakamoto has not received any peace awards, but cryptocurrency users have publicly honored the pseudonymous creator on several occasions. According to Cointelegraph, a group of crypto enthusiasts has placed a bronze statue of Nakomoto in a park in Budapest.

However, it is unclear if Nakamoto would ever be eligible to receive the Nobel Prize as her identity has never been publicly revealed.
A new report from Aiden Labbased on a data point from Nakamoto’s updates to the code and posts occurring primarily during the day in the western hemisphere indicates the individual may be a North American resident.
