What happened: Taiwan’s Minister of Military Operations Chiu Kuo Cheng said in a legislature session that the Taiwanese army would “definitely stop buying” from Musk’s company, reported Radio Free Asia.

“Procurement of equipment must be in line with the needs of the army and with government policy guidelines,” Chiu said.
“The national army currently has no need to purchase additional Tesla vehicles,” he added.
The military officials also reportedly turned off all cameras on the cars used for safety reasons, as each Tesla car has eight cameras that can send footage back to the company. The report noted that Taiwan’s military currently has seven model 3s and uses them for administrative purposes.

This came after Musk spoke about it in a new interview Problems with China and Taiwan and said, “My recommendation… would be to find a special administrative region for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable and unlikely to make everyone happy.”
In response, Taiwan’s de facto ambassador lashed out at Tesla’s CEO, saying: “Taiwan sells many products, but our freedom and democracy cannot be bought.”
