LIVERMORE, Calif. Oct. 12, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — UNCLE Credit Union has officially assumed control of Moore West Federal Credit Union operations in San Leandro, California in Alameda County. This strategic merger is the third UNCLE has completed in recent years. In 2018, UNCLE expanded its branch network and membership into neighboring San Joaquin County after acquiring Stockton Community Federal Credit Union and Allied Trades Credit Union.
The merger with Moore West expands UNCLE’s presence in its flagship East Bay market in the Bay Area of California. Successful initiatives to partner with smaller financial institutions in the UNCLE membership area have been a key strategy to ensure the credit union’s long-term viability and provide optimal value to its members.
“Having the opportunity to expand further into Alameda County was an easy win for UNCLE Credit Union since we already serve so many members in that county,” said Harold Roundtree, President and CEO of UNCLE Credit Union. “Ultimately, it was the best result for both credit unions and an opportunity for members to get the most out of their membership.”
To ensure a smooth transition, the former CEO of Moore West was temporarily brought on board by UNCLE as an advisor on the merger. The process started on July 1st, 2022, the full system integration was completed on October 1st, 2022.

The Moore West Federal Credit Union was formed in 1935 for the employees of the Pacific Manifold Book Company. The name chosen at the time was Pamaboca Credit Union.
