The war in Ukraine could spell the end of a US-led international world order, commenters say from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
What happened: Putin told lawmakers in Russia in July that US dominance could soon be over, according to a report by news week.
“They should have realized that they lost our special military operation from the start,” Putin said. “Its beginning also marks the beginning of a radical breakdown in the American world order.”
Putin’s comments refer to the United States’ involvement in supporting Ukraine and imposing sanctions on Russia.
“This is the beginning of the transition from liberal globalist American egocentrism to a truly multipolar world.”
Putin said the transition “can no longer be stopped”.
The Russian President spoke of “hostile actions by Western countries” such as the USA.
“The so-called collective West, led by the United States, has been extremely aggressive towards Russia for decades.”

Why it matters: Putin’s comments blame Western countries, including the United States, for starting the war with Ukraine.
“It was unleashed by this very collective West, which organized and then backed an unconstitutional armed coup in Ukraine in 2014, and then promoted and justified the genocide of people in Donbass,” Putin said.
The comments come as it was reported from Putin that Russia could only begin its military efforts.
“Everyone should know that, by and large, we haven’t really started anything yet.”
Putin said Russia has not rejected peace talks and that the further the conflict in Ukraine goes, the more difficult it becomes for countries to negotiate with Russia.
