president Joe Biden warned of the escalating threat of nuclear Armageddon in the wake of threats from Russia’s leader Wladimir Putin.
What happened: Biden said Thursday, “We haven’t faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.” reported Reuters.

Why it matters: Russia declared victory in a series of referendums it organized in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the Kremlin’s move and said the “Pseudo referendums” are worthless.

Putin recently warned the West about this “This is not a bluff” that Russia would use all means to protect its territory. The comments came shortly after the referendum plans were announced.
EU Foreign Representative Joseph Borell recently said, “It’s a dangerous moment because the Russian army has been cornered and Putin’s response, the threat to use nuclear weapons, is very bad.”
Tesla Inc TSLA chairman Elon Musk also recently suggested that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome of the raging conflict would be a “nuclear war.” referring to Putin’s threats.
