Apple co-founder attacks Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Over Cost – Press Release

apple inc AAPL co-founder Steve Wozniak told a personal experience on Wednesday when digging Metaplatforms Inc METAthe goliath of social networks, led by Mark Zuckerberg.

What happened: Wozniak, who co-founded Apple Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne 1976 tweeted when COVID-19 prevented his domestic workers from coming, he and his wife Janet Hill “made the sacrifice of continuing to pay their full salaries because it was the right thing to do.”

Wozniak tweeted a Gizmodo article about Meta withdrawing internship offers amid cost-cutting.

Why it matters: Some of the withdrawn offers were made to people already working at Meta, which runs popular social networks Facebook and Instagramreported Gizmodo.

Yure Pabloa prospective intern affected by Meta’s decision wrote on LinkedIn that for him as a Hispanic, the internship isn’t just a job, it’s “a lifetime opportunity that you’ve worked hard for, a belief that not everyone allows for.”

This week, Meta relocated to close an office in New York while consolidating the local workforce. The closure came as Zuckerberg tried to reorganize teams and reduce the company’s workforce.
