- The union represents American Airlines Group Inc EEL Pilots resisted efforts to extend an exemption from modern cockpit warning requirements for the Boeing Co B.A 737 MAX 7 and 10.
- The union representing 15,000 pilots, dubbed the Allied Pilots Association, said: “Boeing must proceed with the installation of advanced crew alert systems on these aircraft to reduce the startle effect and pilot confusion in the event of complex composite system malfunctions,” Reuters said reported.
- Boeing faces a December Deadline to obtain regulatory approval for the Max 10. Unless Boeing receives an extension from Congress, Boeing will have to meet new modern warning requirements for cockpits.
- The requirements were passed as part of a certification reform bill passed after two crashes that killed 346 and left the plane grounded.
- The families of many of those killed in the MAX crashes are also opposed to granting Boeing an extension.
- Reuters reported the union said the pilots’ union “disagreed with Boeing’s claim that pilots could become confused when transitioning from an aircraft without the advanced warning system to one equipped with it. Nothing could be further from the reality of our flight decks.”
