Elon Musk has asked for “Trump” to be added as a search term – Press Release

musk and trump

Elon Musk tried to get Twitter, Inc. TWTR to use the search term “Trump” on the grounds that the name is associated with it spam accounts and bots, an email exchange between the billionaire’s lawyer Silpa Maruri and the social media company showed.

The email, along with a number of other documents, was released earlier this week in connection with the lawsuit filed by Twitter to pursue Musk’s $44 billion deal to privatize the company.

Twitter’s attorney Bradley Wilson allegedly said His client was unconvinced of the need to search for “Trump” because the former US President’s name was among the many irrelevant topics that would lead to too many searches.

The email communication also indicated that Musk’s legal team wanted “Bangalore” and “New Delhi” to be included in the search term, Bloomberg said. The request follows the revelation that Twitter had taken the Indian government to court in Bangalore, challenging its order to ban certain accounts, the report added.

Meanwhile, Musk’s lawyer claimed that Twitter violated the terms of the merger agreement by not disclosing the investigation in India.

A preliminary search using the terms suggested by Musk’s team turned up about 250,000 documents, Twitter reportedly said. She therefore called for the search terms to be narrowed down.

According to Twitter, Friday’s session closed up 2.57% at $43.84 Benzinga Pro data.
