Over the past week, Iran has been rocked by large-scale protests against Iran’s dictatorial theocratic regime. The protests, led by thousands of brave women, began in response to the murder of Mahsa “Gina” Amini, a Kurdish-Iranian woman who was arrested by the “morality police” for not conforming to the strict hijab requirements Had kept.
The protests that followed called for an end to the deeply misogynist political and legal system imposed by Iran’s dictatorship for more than four decades. The demonstrators have now expanded their demands to include regime change and replaced the theocracy with a pluralistic democracy.
As the Iranian regime shuts down the internet in the country and indiscriminately kills protesters, the Iranian people have repeatedly asked for the international community to speak out and step up their demands. This event…
