
US stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq Composite falling more than 200 points while in decline apple inc AAPL, Meta Platforms, Inc. META and Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN shares.
Let’s take a look at the major economic events scheduled for today.
- Initial jobless claims data for the last week is released at 8:30 am ET. For the week of September 17, 220,000 jobless claims are expected, compared to 213,000 the previous week.
- The current account report for the second quarter is scheduled for release at 8:30 am ET. After a deficit of $291.4 billion in the first quarter, analysts are expecting a deficit of $259.5 billion for the second quarter.
- The Index of Leading Economic Indicators for August will be released at 10:00 am ET. After falling 0.4% in July, analysts expect leading indicators to remain unchanged in August.
- The Energy Information Administration’s weekly report on natural gas inventories in underground storage is scheduled for release at 10:30 am ET.
- The Kansas City Fed September manufacturing index will be released at 11:00 am ET. Analysts expect Kansas City’s manufacturing index to ease slightly to +2 in September after decelerating 10 points to +3 in August.
- The Treasury will auction 4- and 8-week bills at 11:30 am ET.
