US stocks closed higher on Monday, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining around 0.8% higher Meta Platforms, Inc. META and apple inc AAPL shares.
Let’s take a look at the major economic events scheduled for today.
- The Federal Open Market Committee will begin its two-day policy meeting today. The US Federal Reserve is due to announce its monetary policy decision on Wednesday, with markets expecting a rate hike of at least 75 basis points.
- August housing starts and permits data will be released at 8:30 am ET. US housing starts are expected to slow to an annual rate of 1.440 million from 1.446 million in the previous month. Approvals are forecast at 1.621 million compared to 1.685 million in July.
- The Treasury will auction 20-year bonds at 1:00 p.m. ET.
