A California resident Tesla Inc TSLA owner has sued The electric car maker said that the company and its CEO Elon musk market the Autopilot and “Full Self-Driving” software “in a deceptive and misleading manner”.
Tesla owner Briggs Matsko has said he paid a $5,000 premium for his 2018 Tesla Model X to get the “Enhanced Autopilot,” which was sold as a precursor to the FSD software, which now costs $15,000 but itself is still in the beta phase.
According to the lawsuit, since 2016 Tesla et al musk deceptively promoting the technology as fully functional or “just around the corner” when they knew the technology didn’t work or wasn’t there and making vehicles unsafe.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court in San Francisco, seeks unspecified damages for people who have purchased or leased Tesla vehicles with Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving capabilities since 2016.
“The plaintiff is bringing this consumer class action to hold Tesla and its representatives, including CEO Elon Musk, accountable for years of misleading and deceptive claims made about the company’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology,” the lawsuit reads.

Tesla has been under scrutiny for the controversial Autopilot driver assistance system. Last month the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in California accused Tesla is being led by Musk for making false claims about its Autopilot and FSD capabilities.
