TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Toronto and York Region Labor Council is holding a rally tomorrow outside Doug Ford’s constituency office in Etobicoke, Friday, 09/16/2022 in solidarity with striking safety inspectors.
After almost 8 weeks of inaction on the strike, we address our message directly to the Premier in his own community, demanding that he bring the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) back to the negotiating table with OPSEU Local 546 safety inspectors.
Though he said he would “always have [workers’] Back, always,” Ford and his government are shirking their campaign responsibilities to protect public safety and help get workers a fair deal. Every day of delay by the premier increases public risk. OPSEU Local 546- Members fight for improvements in accountability for public safety standards and practices, wages and benefits that meet industry standards, measures to address understaffing issues, and to improve employee retention and hiring, and greater empowerment in the workplace.
