Former US President donald trump said Wladimir PutinUkraine’s invasion of Ukraine could “ultimately” be a “World War III”.
What happened: “Ultimately (Russia-Ukraine) could become a third world war,” Trump said in one interview with India’s NDTVadding that the Kremlin would never have invaded Ukraine had he been President.
“President Putin would never have come in if I had been President. Never. Not even a chance,” he said.
When asked what he would have done differently for Ukraine in the face of the war with Russia, the former president said: “Absolutely nothing, because it was understood that you would not go to Ukraine. We didn’t have to do anything.”
This came as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine entered its seventh straight month with no end in sight. During that time, thousands of civilians and soldiers were killed, cities destroyed and millions displaced from their homes.
Meanwhile, Trump also warned that after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Xi Jinping could attack Taiwan over China’s poor relations with the island nation where it claims sovereignty.
“Russia invades Ukraine, that would never have happened. Watch what will happen with China and Taiwan,” he said.
Ukraine said over the weekend it had liberated and charged more than 30 settlements in the Kharkiv region Wladimir Putin-led Russia into a “cowardly reaction” when it attacked water facilities and a thermal power plant.
