The Detroit Lions finished the 2021 NFL season with a 3-13-1 record, the second-worst in the NFL. While many wouldn’t expect the Lions to be among the teams most betting on the 2022 NFL season, the Lions are attracting bets in a number of categories, likely influenced by being the featured team at NFL Hard Knocks .
What happened: The Lions were selected as the team for “Hard Knocks,” an award-winning documentary series that follows an off-season NFL team through training camp and the preseason.
The show airs on HBO and HBO Max, both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery WBD. The show featured head coaches Dan Campbell, beginning 2022 as his second year at the helm of the Lions and featuring prominent coverage of Aidan Hutchinsonthe top Lions rookie and number two draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Both Hutchinson and Campbell have received a lot of attention from bettors ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
“The 2022 Detroit Lions are going to be the team that CAN and WILL,” Campbell said in the Hard Knocks finale.

The NFL highlighted that eleven of the last thirteen teams featured at Hard Knocks improved or equaled records from the previous season. That includes the Cleveland Browns, who featured in the 2018 version as they went from 0-16 to a 7-8-1 record after being featured at Hard Knocks.
