
According to a leaked email from The information, alphabet inc Google Google cracks down on unnecessary employee travel, team bonding, happy hour and other social gatherings.
Last week, the company emailed its senior executives to limit employee travel to only critical business trips.
That’s what the information reports Google Executives were told there would be a “high bar” for travel deemed critical.
The publication also states that in-office social functions, team offsites and travel to in-person events should no longer be approved and people should opt for virtual options.

“We recently shared guidance on how to manage spend responsibly, including travel and events,” Google said in a statement to The Information about the recent policy change.
Last week, Google CEO Sundar Pichai told employees that he wants to make the company 20% more efficient, which could involve downsizing, CNBC reported.
