president Joe Biden berated Republicans for their stance on abortion, saying the overthrow of Roe v. Wade through the US Supreme Court has mobilized a “powerful force” in the country – it’s women.
What happened: Biden’s comments came on Democratic National Committee Meeting Thursday in National Harbor, Maryland.
“Republicans have awakened a powerful force in this country: women,” Biden said. “Here you come,” said Biden, reported The hill.
In his speech, the President criticized Republicans’ stance on a number of issues. He said: “If it were up to them, they would come after contraception, marriage equality and the whole right to privacy.”

Why it matters: Biden’s speech is not his first such attack on Republicans. Earlier this month in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he tore into MAGA Republicans who he said were determined to turn this country backwards.”
“Back to an America where there is no right to choice, no right to privacy. No right to birth control, no right to marry who you love,” Biden said at the time.
On Thursday, Biden also attacked MAGA acolytes who “embrace political violence,” saying, “You can’t be pro-riot and pro-democracy.”
Also in Biden’s crosshairs was the former president donald trump for saying he would pardon rioters on January 6, according to The Hill.
Trump responded to Biden’s earlier speech in Philadelphia by posting an image of a “patriotic kiss” on his Truth Social platform, owned by Trump media and technology group (TMTG), according to a previous report.
TMTG is to go public through a merger Digital World Acquisition Corp DWAC.
