
Tesla Inc TSLA and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said he had some “promising discussions” with Apple Inc AAPL via Starlink connectivity.
What happened: The billionaire entrepreneur said on Twitter Thursday that the iPhone team appears to be “super smart.”
“Closing the link from space to the phone will definitely work best when the phone software and hardware adapts to space-based signals, as opposed to Starlink which just emulates a cell tower,” Musk said.

Why it matters: Apple recently introduced the iPhone 14. The new lineup features Emergency SOS via satellite supported by GlobalStar, Inc GSAT.
Late last month, Musk’s SpaceX announced a collaboration with T-Mobile US Inc TMUS looking forward to bringing satellite connectivity to T-Mobile users next year.
At the event, Musk said SpaceX’s second-generation Starlink satellites would be able to “broadcast directly to cell phones.”
Price promotion: Tesla shares closed 2% higher at $289.26 in the regular session and up 0.25% in the after-hours session. On the same day, Apple shares closed 1% lower at $154.46.
