The ETC Factors
- ETC was among the top two gainers on price tracking websites CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko. The cryptocurrency has also been trending on these two websites
- Ethereum Classic, the heir to Ethereum’s original blockchain contribution, a controversial hard fork in 2016, was trending among retail investors on Stocktwits at the time of writing.
- Trading volume for ETC increased by a whopping 530.6% to $2.56 billion in 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
- According to Cointrendz data, ETC was among the most mentioned coins on Twitter at the time of writing. The three most named coins were Elrond, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
- Coinglass data showed that $25.29 million worth of ETCs were liquidated in 24 hours as the coin’s price surged.
- The Relative Strength Index (RSI) for ETC is 64.490 at the time of writing, according to TradingView. An asset is considered overbought when the RSI is above 70 and oversold when it is below 30.
Hashrate hits all-time high
The hashrate, or measure of computing power on a coin’s network, was 46.42 terahashes per second (TH/s) at the time of writing, according to 2miners.com.
On Jan. 1, the hashrate was 23.74 TH/s — meaning it’s up 95.53% year-to-date. In the last few days, the hashrate has reached an all-time high.
