
One of the largest tire companies in the world is delving deeper into integration with electric vehicles. Here’s a look at the plans of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company GT in the EV area.
What happened: Goodyear tires announced the introduction of the new Goodyear ElectricDrive tire and two new sizes for its Ultra High Performance tire on Thursday.
The announcement adds four new sizes to the tire range for electric vehicles. Goodyear said in the announcement that with the additional sizes and tires, the Goodyear ElectricDrive tires will now fit 44% more battery electric vehicles operating in the United States today.
The ElectricDrive tires also come with a 60,000 mile limited warranty.
The new tires, aimed at electric vehicles, allow for greater load capacity and feature SoundComfort technology that reduces vehicle interior noise.

Why it matters: The new ElectricDrive tires allow Goodyear to fit vehicles like the Nissan Leaf, Kia Niro and Chevrolet Bolt and Volt General Motors GM.
“Goodyear remains focused on providing innovative products and technologies for the EV segment and providing drivers with the quality, performance and improved tread they have come to expect from our brands,” said Goodyear Consumer Product Marketing Director Michael Kramer said.
Goodyear released the ElectricDrive GT tire in December 2021.
“The addition of the new ElectricDrive GT sizes allows us to meet the unique needs of more EV drivers with premium, high-performance Goodyear products.”
