According to US media reports, US actress Anne Heche “will not survive” after suffering a severe brain injury in a car accident in Los Angeles last week.

The fiery crash left Heche, 53, in a coma with a “severe anoxic brain injury,” according to a statement from a representative quoted by multiple outlets on Thursday.

“It has long been her decision to donate her organs and she is being placed on life support to determine if any are viable,” the statement said.

It also thanked Heche’s well-wishers as well as those caring for her at West Hills Hospital’s Grossman Burn Center.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit,” the statement added.

“More than her extraordinary talent, she saw her life’s work in spreading kindness and joy — most importantly, moving the needle to accept who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and will be greatly missed for her light.”

Heche has been in a coma since driving her car into a two-story home in the Mar Vista neighborhood on Aug. 5, which the Los Angeles Fire Department said caused “structural compromise and … serious fire” at the scene.

The ensuing fire took 59 firefighters 65 minutes to contain and fully extinguish, the department said.

Los Angeles police said in a statement Thursday that they would be conducting tests on Heche’s blood and that investigators intended “to refer this case to the appropriate district attorney’s office,” although they have not filed any charges.

Local media reported the same day that preliminary tests for narcotics had come back positive, although further testing was needed to ensure the drugs had not been administered while she was being treated.

Citing unnamed police sources, celebrity gossip site TMZ said Heche has tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, the latter sometimes used to relieve pain in clinical settings.

Heche starred in a number of films from the 1990s, including Six Days Seven Nights, Donnie Brasco and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Heche is also known for her role on the soap opera Another World, for which she won a Daytime Emmy in 1991.

In the 1990s, she was in a high-profile relationship with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
