US President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 on Saturday, days after suffering a second bout of the disease.

“The President remains very comfortable,” Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said in a statement. “This morning his SARS-CoV-2 antigen test was negative.”

Biden, who at 79 is the oldest person to hold the US presidency, has been in quarantine for the past week after testing positive for the virus after an initial recovery in a so-called “rebound” case.

O’Connor said Biden would continue to isolate “with great caution” pending a second negative test.

According to Biden’s official schedule, he is scheduled to travel Monday to the southern state of Kentucky, the scene of devastating floods.
