After decades as an FFA member, trainer, and professor, Davis saw a need to bring technology to the teaching of agricultural science and founded what would later become a multimillion-dollar company. His story will inspire listeners to pursue what they love and ask for help along the way.

opportunity knocks
if dr Gordon Davis, Chairman of CEV Media, reflects on where his journey began and thinks of an FFA Chapter in Washington State. Davis’ older brother attended the national FFA conference in the 1960s, and Davis wanted to see for himself. His goal was to become a civil servant in order to attend the convention, and to achieve it he had to take the initiative: earn and manage money while overseeing a dairy cow project. Ultimately, Davis was able to attend the National FFA Convention in St. Louis that year. “I’m telling you, that just opened my eyes to the world,” Davis says. “I saw how big the country is.”
Davis didn’t stop there. He went to university and became an agricultural instructor, where he coached many of the same teams he was on while he was a student at the FFA. At the age of 26 he decided to be “financially independent”. Determined to open more doors, Davis earned his PhD in Meat Science from Texas A&M University and embarked on a long and distinguished faculty career in various prestigious agricultural science programs throughout Texas.
