Here are the latest developments in the war in Ukraine:

– Lavrov storms out of G20 talks –

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov storms out of talks with fellow G20 foreign ministers meeting in Indonesia amid Western powers criticize Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.

At the meeting on the holiday island of Bali, the US and Western allies tell Moscow that the conflict with Ukraine must be ended through negotiations.

But Lavrov exits a morning session while German counterpart Annalena Baerbock criticizes Moscow for its invasion, and he also exits an afternoon session before Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba addresses ministers virtually.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken previously avoided meeting Lavrov, instead accusing Russia of triggering a global food crisis and urging Moscow to allow grain shipments from Ukraine.

– Kramatorsk under four –

A Russian airstrike in the eastern Ukrainian industrial city leaves at least one dead and several wounded as Russia tries to advance deeper into the Donbass region.

The blast leaves a gaping crater next to a hotel and apartment buildings and several cars on fire, AFP journalists say.

Before the attack, the head of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko, announced that Russian bombings had killed at least seven people in the past 24 hours.

– Tensions between Kyiv and Ankara –

A diplomatic crisis erupts between Ukraine and Turkey, with Kyiv accusing Ankara of ignoring its calls to seize a Russian-flagged ship allegedly carrying grain stolen from Ukraine.

Kyiv claims that the Zhibek Zholy, which arrived in Turkey’s Black Sea port of Karasu a week ago, snuck out of the Russian-held Ukrainian port of Berdyansk with wheat stolen from Ukrainian territory.

Russia denies grain theft.

After Turkish checks, the ship returned to Russian territorial waters on Thursday, Turkish sources said.

Ukraine said it was “deeply disappointed” Turkey had not seized the ship and returned the grain.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has summoned the Turkish ambassador to demand an explanation.

– Control of Ukraine over Snake Island –

In his evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated his call for more arms from international allies.

He also thanks Ukraine’s efforts to regain control of Snake Island in the Black Sea.

“I want to thank you for the final stages of the battle for Snake Island. Our national flag was raised there. This operation lasted two months,” says Zelenskyj.

Russia said it withdrew from the iconic island in a “goodwill” gesture but has continued to target positions there since.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it carried out “precision” missile strikes on the island early Thursday, killing Ukrainian soldiers.
