ATLANTA, GA, July 01, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), an online childcare training provider aimed exclusively at early childhood care and education professionals, is offering CUR122: Effective class reunions in early childhood as a free trial course for new CCEI users from 1st to 31st July 2022.
In effective early learning environments, children are exposed to a variety of learning experiences. The day is divided into phases of learning center exploration, outdoor play, and self-care routines such as eating, using the toilet, and napping. Typically there are also periods spent on planned activities in large and small groups. The use of these elements is a sign of a balanced daily routine that takes into account the needs and interests of the children.
Class reunions provide an opportunity for educators to engage with children in rich conversations on a variety of topics. These interactions can help teachers assess the children’s current skills and understanding of topics, which can then be used to plan activities that are appropriately challenging for the children in the group. As teachers and children get to know each other in new ways, teachers can use this information to communicate with families and build stronger, more collaborative relationships. But most importantly, class reunions are a time when teachers can intentionally create a strong sense of belonging and community in the classroom.
This course explores the developmentally appropriate use of class reunions in early learning settings. During the course, participants will discover how class reunions can be used to create a sense of community, enhance social/emotional development and strengthen important cognitive skills. The course introduces a set of best practices for holding class reunions, as well as the skills and topics that should be included on class reunion agendas.
