SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, June 13, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Marj and Gord Classen’s family has partnered with MADD Canada to place a memorial street sign near where the couple tragically died in 2020 was killed by a disabled driver.

The active, high-spirited couple had just relocated to Saskatoon after retiring and were excited for all that this new chapter in their lives had to offer. On January 23, 2020, they were driving home from visiting Marj’s mother when an impaired driver swerved on Highway 41 and crashed head-on into the Classen’s vehicle. Marj died at the scene of the accident. Gord died in hospital three weeks later, on February 14.

Featuring the names of Marj and Gord and the MADD Canada red ribbon image, the sign is a powerful reminder of the importance of always driving sober.

Memorial road signs are a way to pay tribute to the innocent victims of disrupted driving and raise awareness of the devastation it causes.

“Roadside memorial plaques are a powerful and moving tool to symbolize the tragic consequences of disrupted driving,” said MADD Canada National President…
