US Justice Department Head nominated the new team on the Cryptocurrency regulation after the cases of bitcoins laundering in New York. FBI will set the “virtual asset exploitation” section after the recent issue of the couple involved in crypto laundering. The US department charged them for stealing Bitcoin worth $4.5 billion in 2016 by hacking digital currency exchange Bitfinex.
Blockchain technology is used in Cryptocurrency, the network of securing information unable to change after entry. It stores every coin’s transaction information in the cryptocurrency market, tagging it with the unique number after each transaction. Now the real estate sector will adopt the blockchain system to store and track data.
US President Joe Biden had already gotten attention on the cryptocurrency market after many cyberattacks on the big companies. In 2021, the largest US fuel pipeline network and the world’s largest beef supplier experienced cyber-attacks from hackers. Hackers always demand the ransomware fee in the form of Cryptocurrency like Bitcoins. The government’s inability to track down blockchain addresses made it easy to transact enormous amounts. The FBI has tracked down some addresses in some cases, but efficiency is not up to the mark.
Prosecutor Eun Young Choi will lead as director of this team. She worked in legal affairs of cyber-related crimes. She directed the case against the Russian hacker involved in hacking data of 80 million JPMorgan & Chase Co customers. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency lacking government regulation. She served Monaco as senior counsel, cybercrime coordinator, and assistant US attorney in New York. “Moving forward, prosecutors, agents, and analysts will now assess – at each stage of a cyber investigation – whether to use disruptive actions against cyber threats, even if they might otherwise tip the cybercriminals off and jeopardize the potential for charges and apprehension,” she said. The dark web is using Cryptocurrency as a financial source. Many criminals are using it for transaction sources to avoid government intervention.
Monaco warned the criminal mindset people about the illegal use of Cryptocurrency as a tool in hacking. Companies also face accountability if they are involved in trading through Cryptocurrency. If any company does not follow the rules, the government will hold it accountable. A new international virtual currency initiative will start in Monaco, disrupting the risks related to cyber hacks.
The increasing Cryptocurrency trend is a significant opportunity to excel with regulations under the government platform. Criminals will use this technology for criminal acts dragging billions of dollars out of the economy. The economy will also suffer due to capital inflow from the banking sector into the Crypto assets
