The induction of technology in education broadens the information range through google. All the information related to any field is just one click away. Companies hire digitally literate workers with better communication skills, analytical thinking, and creativity. To become an entrepreneur also needs a skillset. The education system needs to train the graduates with a talent for better global competition. All advanced school systems in the world have become acquainted with the digital platform for revolution. Digital learning, online classes, and multimedia lessons are regular tools in classes.
Developed and elite school systems have already adopted the EdTech system, linking their students with the global village. Our state-funded Grassroots school system students will get tested on their memorization ability.
Pakistan was ranked as the 20th largest economy in purchasing power last year. In contrast, education was tabled at 154th number due to multiple reasons. These alarming figures highlight the world’s perception of our education system’s ability to equip young students with modern tools.
The analysis should be based on the evaluation of the grassroots school system rather than the elite school systems. These developed school systems provide a far better quality of education whose graduates are performing excellently across the globe without facing any hardship.
The discrimination-based education system has always pushed our education into a blind street of compromise. The developed schools for elite classes have already adopted the EdTech system for the education system. Government schools are far beyond adopting the EdTech system.
“ILM report suggested 89 percent of school administrators thought that EdTech improves the quality of teaching in the classroom.”
Digital education is different from the world of textbooks. It benefits the student by providing a limitless source of information. Students can overcome teacher deficiencies by access to online lectures. Personal learning and engagement of students create an environment of critical education. It is challenging to estimate the value of digital learning. Millions of Pakistani students seek information through YouTube and google daily. In 2019 research conducted by ILM Association (that has 10,000 low fee private schools across Pakistan), 89 percent of school administrators thought that EdTech improves the quality of teaching in the classroom.
Employment opportunities are more excelled by students possessing current skills. The digital environment provides a more efficient working environment in firms. The graduates and employees who do not have the skills of the 21st century will no longer be able to share their role in the modernization of the country.
Covid 19 plays a significant role in highlighting the difference between the elite and grassroots schools. Pakistan needs to invest in the education sector in EdTech adoption in local government schools. A social class-based education system will further deteriorate by providing incompatible youth. Most youth will not play their role in the future, lacking skills.
Pakistan should invest resources to introduce EdTech in the grassroots system for improving digital learning. Estimates show that between 20-30 existing classrooms can be upgraded into EdTech supporting smart-classrooms for the cost of a new computer lab, which becomes redundant for digitally literate students. The development of digital infrastructures like computer labs, software houses, and digital markets will provide more opportunities in education, helping the economy.
Pakistan’s population is not growing at a fast rate compared to African countries. Sustained development of education will minimize the gap between academia and industries. The education sector with good digital infrastructure and EdTech system will engage our youth to compete with the global world.
