Javier Arroyo is the co-founder of Smartick — a world-class online program for math and coding for children. Smartick was built on the foundation to redefine the one-size-fits-all education mindset of the current education ecosystem.
Javier graduated from Harvard Business School’s Executive Program, holds a BA in Economics and an MBA from Solvay Business School (Belgium).
Arroyo is a former strategic consultant at Accenture and Managing Partner of Fast Track (now sold to WPP). He has been recognized as an Eisenhower Fellow by the U.S. Congress.
The origin of Smartick
Javier, along with co-founder Daniel De Vega, started Smartick in 2009 to build a brighter future for children through improved math education online.
Javier and Daniel are passionate entrepreneurs who want every child to get the personalized attention they deserve. Smartick shifts the current one-size-fits-all education paradigm, based on the belief that every child is unique and needs a tailored approach.
Too many children needlessly struggle with math, and Smartick wants to do something about it with their personal AI Math Program for every child. These skills matter: Most professions require knowledge of math.
Smartick, through its online learning environment, teaches children math, coding, logic, and reasoning. These are skills that improve not only future employability, but also learning and thinking skills.
Smartick goes beyond traditional ‘analogue’ teaching methods (the limitations of which have become clear during the pandemic). It is built on a rigorous research-based methodology, which is based on the top scientific evidence published worldwide.
Digital learning allows students, regardless of their age or grade, to learn and advance according to their own needs and learning style, without the pressure of the traditional classroom.
Smartick is not only different to traditional learning, it is unique when compared to other digital programs, which are merely an online repository of math exercises where teachers or parents have to choose the topic and the children can practice – often in an irregular way,
Those platforms do not have a unique, bespoke methodology but are, according to Arroyo, just a ‘digital homework delivery system’.
Smartick is built on proprietary AI and data analysis that allows it to design an individual learning path, and content, for each child.
Unlike any other digital program, Smartick does not follow a school curriculum – making it similar to the Kumon method in that respect.
All children can benefit from Smartick sessions online, regardless of whether they wish to fill in learning gaps or excel beyond the classroom. Children can learn without parental help (Smartick does not depend on recruiting parents as volunteer teachers) and only need to spend 15 minutes daily on Smartick – a lot can be achieved in a short time.
Smartick is leading an imminent global educational revolution by offering effective homeschooling tools to all children. Smartick is accessed by children in more than 185 countries, solving 2 million problems daily.
