According to Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher, the goal of Pakistan’s national space program has always been to achieve long-term socioeconomic growth.
As per the official statement published on Tuesday, he mentioned this while addressing the 15th meeting of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG) in Vienna.
According to Pakistan’s envoy to Austria, Pakistan, as a state party to all five core multilateral treaties on outer space, conducts all of its outer space operations in a peaceful, clear, and safe way in accordance with all relevant international regulations, with the ultimate goal of improving human well-being.
As per Ambassador Khokher, Pakistan, like other developing countries, is attempting to use space technologies in a variety of fields, including urban planning, transportation, water resource management, agriculture, healthcare, disaster management, and environmental pollution and climate change.
He went on to say that the recent approval of the Space 2030 Agenda by the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space at its 64th Session will offer poor nations even more impetus to embrace space as a catalyst for sustainable growth.
According to the ambassador, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies have become an essential component of our economies and societies.
He further stated that the capability to correctly and consistently find locations was an essential necessity in modern economies, with far-reaching consequences for the environment, sustainable use of natural resources, catastrophe warning, and emergency management.
The Ambassador added that satellite navigation systems play a crucial part in social and economical development and sustainable growth, and that Pakistan places a high value on GNSS applications across a wide range of economic sectors.
