When we deeply look at the quicker adoption of Electric Vehicles by a large population, we can observe a key factor reason: the incentive given by the western government in the form of hard cash.
Although these incentives proved to be quite effective for promoting Electric Vehicles, it will still require a long time for conversion. The reason for Tesla’s first Electric Vehicle was the profitable subsidy that the government gave to the consumer. Because of such subsidy, it purchased Electric subsidies more affordable in the US and Canada. Another factor behind the success of EVs is that people are now getting well aware of the effects that other vehicles have on global warming. The third factor that was the reason for the success of EVs is the cheaper electricity because of solar and wind turbines. Tesla has made its free-of-cost charging station because of which customers are more attracted to such cars. Pakistani customers are more attracted to EVs because of their latest trend.
Pakistan will have to make proper planning for the export of EVs as they cost too much, increasing the export bill and burden the economy. It is safe to say that the import bill of fuels will also be reduced for Pakistan with the export of EVs. As the EVs are chargeable with the solar system and no fuel will be required.
We should also consider the negligibility of GMG footprint in Pakistan, which will help reduce the greenhouse effect and global warming caused by the excessive use of fuel products. The use of EVs will not be helpful for the environment as if they will be charged by the grid using fuels instead of solar charging stations. If Pakistan wants a noticeable reduction in GMG, it will have to provide the cars with charging stations that solely rely on their solar systems.
When we talk about charging the EVs, we should know that there are two ways to charge the car, whether to charge it at home, which is a slow process to charge it from a commercial station that offers fast charging. But for this purpose, the government of Pakistan will have to set a net of charging stations all across the country, especially on urban roads and highways, and for this, the people of Pakistan will have to pay quite an expensive price.
The citizens of Pakistan, as a common mode, will be using electric outlets with 220 volts. As the cars will be operative during day time and will be parked at night when they will be automatically recharging, one will not be able to charge it from a home-based solar system as the consumer will have to install a battery storage system, but that is quite inefficient and will cost high.
The experts predict that the future of Pakistan’s transportation lies in EVs. Still, the biggest concern is how to prepare for such a future, and according to experts, it will be done by taking wise small steps gradually with proper strategies. For initial steps in Pakistan, auto rikshaws should be replaced by electric rickshaws that will also help improve their income. If Pakistan would make a focused and efficient strategy, the launch of EVs in Pakistan will bring maximum economic benefits.
