Just like many other social media applications and platforms, Clubhouse has also announced that they are removing the personal information of Afghani users. The social application contemplated in a recent tweet that they are trying to preserve the accounts of Afghanistan users.
The application owners then removed the personal information of users from their official Clubhouse accounts. The company stated that, since the recent shift in the Afghanistan government, a large population of Afghanistan users was deleting their photos from social applications.
The applications stated that since the surge in the relative country, they have reconsidered the bio’s information and images of thousands of its users. The new privacy and security policy have made it more strenuous to search the Clubhouse accounts of its users.
In a tweet, ZDaryabi shared a snapshot of the application and stated that the message is from Clubhouse to the people of Afghanistan using the social media application. The new stated;
“In light of the situation in Afghanistan and with guidance from experts, we’ve made some changes to your account. We noticed you haven’t been active. So far your safety, we’ve removed your photos and bio and made your account harder to find. You are welcomed to add back any information to your profile that you feel safe sharing. If you would like your profile to become more discoverable again, please send us a support request by tapping here and mentioning “Afghanistan.”
The company stated that they had considered the serious situation in Afghanistan, and their step forward towards the privacy policy of Afghanistan users will help the people protect themselves. It is important to remember that since the Taliban took over the Afghan government, people were continuously removing a whole bunch of their social media profiles data. Amongst those were particularly the people who wanted to hide their any kind of association with the western world and particularly America.
The social media application also informed their audience that they would be allowed to make any changes to their account in case they want to regain the same account appearance on their social media application. The company stated that all the efforts were carried out after consultation from the experts of free expression.
In a recent news update, the verge redirects a link in their blog post, telling about the NBC news, which claimed that hundreds of people were observed deleting their social media accounts and information after the Taliban took over Afghanistan. Users are trying to wipe out all possible posts from every social media that may depict them as a supporter of the west.
It is important to remember that many social media platforms, such as Facebook, tried to update their security for Afghani users. The social media app started hiding the “friend list” of Afghan users and also provided them with a quick lockdown key in case of any problematic situation.
