Signal messaging platforms being used by a lot of people have now launched a few new features in their default settings. The new feature will allow people to leverage the default time setting in messaging. A default timer has been introduced, and people can now set one specific time and turn it on. The time will be applied automatically to all their chats. Users can now decide the time extent they want their messages to be seen by the receiver.
Signal messaging applications have launched the feature of message disappearing option for a long time now. Users were supposed to set the time of a text. However, users were suffering from the manual setting of disappearing messages every time they used to send a message or multimedia content.
In a recent update, the company announced the feature. The company stated their new default setting policy:
“We think there’s something special about sharing a private fleeting moment between friends, so Signal also supports disappearing messages. Now, we’ve added the ability to pre-configure all conversations you initiate with a default disappearing messages timer.”
The disappearing messages feature lets the sender limit a conversation time according to their preferences. This setting does not only allow the user from an automatic removal of chat but also secures your mobiles storage capacity. However, in their blog post, Signal also stated that although the purpose of disappearing chat is to remove the chat from receivers’ and senders’ interface, there are still multiple sources to keep track and record that conversation or multimedia.
The company reiterated that users can still utilize options such as screenshots or taking the snap from another camera device.
“If someone who receives a disappearing message wants a record of it, they can always use another camera to take a photo of the screen before the message disappears.”
Signal further stated that people who suffer from mobile storage could leverage disappearing texts. Once the purpose of a conversation is filled, the disappearing message will be automatically removed, and your conversation history will also evaporate. The application ensures the encrypted conversation opportunity for its users and is setting up new features and updates as well.
Talking about the default time setting, Signal explained that the feature would allow you to decide the disappearing time of all your signal conversations by default. Earlier, people had to browse and set the timing of each conversation individually, which was a bit uncomfortable for some users.
“We’ve also added the ability to set custom timer durations on your conversations so that some content can be gone in 60 seconds and others can exist for 18 minutes or 4 weeks. Install Signal, and give it a shot today!” explained the Signal in their article on the official website.
Moxie Marlinspike, the founder of the Signal messaging application, also announced the specs of new features on Twitter. The founder shared a tweet and shared the news with the app users:
“Now, you can set a default disappearing message timer in Signal. All new groups you create or new conversations you initiate will be pre-configured with it.”
Remember that the application is end-to-end encrypted providing users a secure messaging application through their platform. Earlier this year, the signal app succeeded in getting a lot of users who switched from WhatsApp due to their new privacy policy. Signal has been working on unique and distinctive features to stand out in the competitive market of messaging applications.
