When 10-year-old (now 11) Evan Vazquez found out his art would be published in the book Age Happens: Garfield Hits the Big 4-0, he was overjoyed. It is proudly displayed on p.59 of the Age Happens.
“Garfield has been my favorite character since forever,” says Vazquez. “When I saw the Fan Art Contest on Garfield.com, I knew I had to try.”
With his lifetime of Garfield fandom to draw from, Vazquez created a piece based on his favorite books and comic strips, a piece that now appears in the fan art section of the book, released June 18th.
Vazquez also enjoys readings, playing Roblox, and creating comic strips of his own. Last school year, he attended Liberty Elementary School and is now enrolled at St. Andrew’s Middle School. He loves traveling, learning new things, and he loves that his friends and family ask him to autograph their copies of Age Happens: Garfield Hits the Big 4-0, which can be bought online or in Barnes & Noble stores.
He loves it so much that he hopes to do a book signing at the local Barnes & Noble in Coral Springs, Florida.
