Two-Day Financial Literacy Fair is Presented by Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation
, a 42-year-old nonprofit organization providing financial counseling, outreach and education, has signed on as the presenting sponsor for Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation’s 2016 FOCUS Summit. Set to occur March 3-4 at Doubletree Hotel Galleria, 4099 Valley View Lane, Dallas, Texas 75244, the FOCUS Summit is intended to be a collaborative initiative providing a diverse impact on local North Texas communities. The summit is designed to provide attendees with financial capability program opportunities for youths and adults alike.
Advocates of financial education will have the opportunity to network, share best practices, and learn of previously untapped resources for actionable initiatives. Attendees will also explore proven strategies and techniques for deploying real financial education fundamentals into both the local schools and communities they represent. Credit union professionals, community leaders and educators are strongly encouraged to attend.
“The FOCUS Summit aligns perfectly with Transformance’s message of promoting financial literacy in our schools and communities,” said Ken Goodgames, president and CEO. “We hope that the networking and knowledge provided by the summit will empower attendees to explore actionable financial initiatives to foster self-sustainability in the communities they represent.”
Those wishing to attend the 2016 FOCUS Summit must register online. Sessions covered during the two-day summit include a keynote address and eight breakout sessions covering topics such as financial literacy on a personal level, college savings accounts, leadership, family budgeting and consumer finance.
The keynote address will be given by David Bach, nine-time New York Times best-selling author of The Automatic Millionaire—A Powerful Plan to Live and Finish Rich. Other individual sessions will be led by esteemed professionals such as Texas State Rep. Marsha Farney (R- Georgetown); Laura Rosen of Opportunity Texas; Tamra Fairbrother, vice-president of the Cornerstone Credit Union League; and Katy Davis, vice-president of ideas42, a leading behavioral science institute.

• Enable good financial knowledge early in life through its focus on education of students (K -12) and their parents through agency strategic partnerships
