The ceremony consisted of Buddhist rites, the award granting ceremony for excellent military medical units and personnel while the army chief gave a speech to public servants. He then visited the ASEAN Medical Center observing its preparedness for the official opening at the end of January.
After that, Royal Thai Army Chief and the officers observed the readiness of ASEAN Military Medical Center prior to its official opening later this month.
Royal Thai Army Medical Department (RTAMED) belongs to the service segment of the Royal Thai Army. It is responsible for medical affairs, providing medical services at its regular base or in the field, giving training to personnel in research and agriculture and supervising the medical divisions of different sectors of the Royal Thai Army. RTAMED observed 116 years of service in January 2011, with 115 years of service having been honored by the issue of a series of commemorative stamps.
