Journal of Arthroplasty Study Finds Rothman Institute Most Published Orthopaedic Practice in the Country on Hip and Knee Replacement
Ranked First in Top Three Major Orthopaedic Journals
December 21, 2015 – Rothman Institute is the most widely published orthopaedic practice on hip and knee replacement, according to a recent study in the Journal of Arthroplasty. The study, authored by physicians at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, assigned points based on the first and last authors of the study, the institution and the level of evidence in three major orthopaedic journals. During the last five years Rothman Institute published the most studies in all three peer-reviewed publications, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedic and Related Research, and Journal of Arthroplasty. In total, Rothman Institute had 44 more authorships on studies than the next highest group.

The authors note, “this study is the first that we are aware of to evaluate academic productivity of attending surgeons associated with adult reconstruction fellowships.”
