The Plutus Awards, the premier awards show for financial bloggers, has announced the finalists for consideration for the 6th Annual Plutus Awards. Finalists will be honored and winners announced at a live ceremony to take place at the FinCon Expo in Charlotte, N.C. on September 19, 2015.
“This is a great community event that allows us to come together and recognize the contributions of our peers,” said Harlan Landes, the founder of the Plutus Awards and its partner organization, the Plutus Foundation. “As our community continues to grow, we welcome and celebrate the diversity in the personal finance online space.”
In addition to announcing the finalists in each category, the Plutus Awards Executive Committee and Blogger Panel added several new categories aimed at reflecting the changing financial media landscape. Some of the new categories include those designed to honor financial blogs that focus on family finances, financial independence and women’s financial issues. Other Plutus Awards categories recognize the contributions made by bloggers focusing on military personnel and millennials.
“Personal finance bloggers have been helping consumers make better decisions with their money for more than a decade, and we feel it’s important to recognize that,” Landes continued. “Not only do we have new categories reflective of the space, but we also introduced a new Service Award, presented by the Plutus Foundation. This award’s honoree will be someone who has benefitted his or her offline community, as well as being active in the personal finance community.”
The Plutus Awards will also honor financial services companies. Bloggers vote on financial products and services they feel benefit consumers, and many of the companies nominated send representatives to the Plutus Awards. A complete list of finalists can be found on the Plutus Awards website.
“Once again, we’ve been impressed with the caliber of blogs nominated for awards,” said Landes. “The Blogger Panel making the final decision had a tough job, but I believe that our finalists represent a wide variety of views and abilities in the personal finance community.”
This year’s Plutus Awards are sponsored by Fidelity Investments, Republic Wireless and State Farm®.
