Florida – The family of a sprint car driver who was killed in a crash involving NASCAR racer Tony Stewart recently expressed their belief that Stewart had “lost his temper” in the incident. The Associated Press reported that Kevin Ward Jr.’s family recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit over the crash.

Pamela and Kevin Ward Sr. appeared on Good Morning America Friday discussing the fatal crash, which occurred last year at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park. Ward was struck by Stewart’s vehicle after he exited his car and walked down the track.

Pamela Ward is quoted as stating during the Good Morning America interview “I don't feel Tony meant to kill my son. But his actions killed my son. I think he lost his temper.”

Kevin Ward Sr. also stated “Tony races every weekend… Well I know my son will never get to race again. He took a very, very big part of my family's life.”

The wrongful death lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.
