Local residents and community groups are invited to celebrate at a free event from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.at the Delray Beach Tennis Center, 201 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, Fla.
Attendees can expect fun activities, from an obstacle course to face painting to a toddler bounce house. Great prizes and back-to-school supplies will be given away, and there will be plenty of music, food and entertainment. The Delray Beach Police Department will be on hand with police cars on display, and everyone can enjoy demonstrations by the SWAT team, K-9 team, motorcycle units and Police Explorers.
Delray Beach’s National Night Out is an opportunity for neighbors to meet each other, their public safety officers and city officials, and to learn tactics to eliminate crime and drug problems in their neighborhoods. This year marks the 32nd annual celebration of the event nationwide, as thousands of communities come together to increase crime awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit. Residents are encouraged to turn on outside lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors. Block parties, potlucks and parades are just a few of the ways the event is celebrated across the United States.
