Startups are Silver and Advertising is Gold – Both Share Common Ground

Experts from Dallas Entrepreneur Center (DEC) to Speak On the Similarities of These Two Diverse Industries

Dallas, 07/27/2015 /SubmitPressRelease123/

The advertising industry began in 1704 when The Boston News-Letter ran a single solicitation to find a buyer for an estate in Long Island. Now, in 2015, advertisers will spend nearly $600 billion worldwide. While advertising has evolved in many ways, it has firmly established itself as a must-have component for success in today’s media market. Similarly, new startups emerge from across all industries, and they are tasked with establishing themselves in order to grow their business. And every startup has hopes for an upward trajectory that will firmly plant their product or service as a must-have in their chosen field.

Continuing on that parallel thought, we are able to focus on the evolution in our own backyard, Dallas and Fort Worth. Today, D/FW is home to more than 40,000 advertising professionals and, simultaneously, is quickly becoming the fastest growing area for start-up professionals in the nation; these industries may evolve from two different worlds but both rely on innovation, creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit for success.

Trey Bowles, co-founder and CEO of the Dallas Entrepreneur Center (DEC), created the DEC to provide entrepreneurs with a central location to arm them with the skills they need to help start, build and grow businesses.

Bowles says, “The advertising and startup worlds are fast moving with new developments occurring everyday—the key for success is not just about connecting vision, execution, and service but also looking out for and mitigating those obstacles and obstructions that can derail your business before you even get off the ground.”

On August 11, the American Advertising Federation Dallas (AAF Dallas) will host Startups, Entrepreneurship and Innovation from 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. at the Doubletree Campbell Centre located at 8250 North Central Expressway, Dallas. Bowles will keynote the luncheon. Tickets are $40– $55 and are available online at http://www.cvent.com/d/prqvzg. Sponsorships are available.

Bowles invites the most creative minds in Dallas to join him in learning more about how Dallas-Fort Worth is organized and funded to accelerate the growth of startups, entrepreneurship, new businesses and products. Additionally, they will share the skills needed to navigate the ever-changing startup environment and juggle the many needs that come with new businesses in today’s world.

Lauren Zeien, vice president of programming, will introduce AAF Dallas audiences to the DEC. Founded in June 2013, the non-profit DEC serves entrepreneurs in the Dallas area, providing a location where they can receive training, education, mentorship, promotion and access to capital in order to encourage and equip the entrepreneurial community to start, build and grow their businesses. Facilitating a culture of entrepreneurship and “giving before you get,” the DEC connects new and old entrepreneurs with a vibrant, collaborative environment.
