In a joint statement issued at the end of the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Guinea-Bissau on May 28-30, President Mario Vaz voiced support for the Sovereign’s call for a genuine and multi-dimensional south-south cooperation between African peoples.
Guinea-Bissau’s President also expressed his country’s unconditional support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces, the Sahara and for Morocco’s territorial integrity. President Mario Vaz also highlighted Morocco’s multilayered support for Guinea-Bissau.
On the conflicts in Africa, the Joint Statement stresses that safeguarding stability hinges on economic growth and the fight against poverty and exclusion through setting up sector-based political and economic reform.
The two heads of state also pointed out in the joint statement to the need for facing security threats and organised crime networks. They also called on the international community to bring stead fast support to efforts aiming at promoting the rule of law.
Guinea-Bissau also expressed support for Morocco’s bid for an observer status within the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries.
For his part, HM King Mohammed VI sent a message of thanks to Guinea-Bissau’s President José Mario Vaz at the end of his official visit to the country.
In the message, HM the King extended to President Mario Vaz and to the government and people of Guinea-Bissau sincere thanks for the heartfelt welcome.
On this occasion, the Sovereign expressed commitment to further reinforce cooperation and solidarity with Guinea-Bissau at all levels, notably in fields relating to human development, agriculture and security with a view to supporting Guinea-Bissau in its reconstruction efforts.
HM the King also expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit which culminated with the signing of agreements in favour of fostering the brotherly bilateral ties as well as solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.
The Sovereign also praised the peace achievements of Guinea-Bissau as well as its stability and development efforts and reaffirmed in this regard Kingdom’s full commitment to bring support to the brotherly people of Guinea-Bissau.
