Los Angeles – Actress Kelly Rutherford has been denied the right to bring her children back to the United States in a highly publicized custody battle. Rutherford recently spoke to ABC News about her ordeal stating that “I know it's not right. Parents know it.” Rutherford’s children reside in France with their German father. A California judge ordered the children to live with him after he was denied re-entry back into the U.S. in 2012. The 46-year-old actress, known for her role on “Gossip Girl” was supposed to share custody of her 5-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son with her ex-husband. The ruling of the California judge is an unprecedented one. ABC News' legal analyst, Dan Abrams, stated of the court decision, “What makes this case so crazy is there was no allegation that Kelly Rutherford was a bad parent… The heart of the ruling was basically saying we don't want to force these kids to fly around to visit their father who can't come into the United States so we're just going to move them to France.” Rutherford stated to the news source of her case, “My children, not only were they taken away, but they were sent to a foreign country. I don't know how you even explain to someone what it feels like.” According to WebProNews, the actress filed for bankruptcy in 2013 due to the ongoing legal battle and international travel expenses to see her children.
