Two different organizations are banding together to help a local Marine who served in
Afghanistan to regain some of the personal freedom he lost in 2010.
Randal Wright was a Lance Corporal with a Marine infantry unit serving in the Helmand province in
Afghanistan when he stepped on an improvised explosive device, losing both of his legs above the knee
and most of his left hand.
A group of local Marine veterans with the Leathernecks motorcycle club has teamed up with the
Matthew A. Pucino Foundation to raise the money to purchase Randal a custom-made trike.
The goal of the two organizations is to get Wright out on the open road on a custom trike modified so
that Wright can operate it safely and carry his wheelchair with him wherever he rides.
According to representatives of the two groups, “Ride therapy helps heal the soul in a way that no
doctor is able. This will not only help Randal heal psychologically but will also give him the flexibility to get
around without relying on other people.”
