reSAWN TIMBER co. announces the specification of its WILLIAMSPORT prefinished Black Walnut wood design for two high-profile east-coast projects this past quarter. WILLIAMSPORT Black Walnut was among the top requested materials for reSAWN in 2013.
WILLIAMSPORT, from reSAWN’s Plateau collection, has been specified and installed in the Philadelphia-based Feldman Shepherd regional law office, and in a new seven-story, Passive House design condominium along Brooklyn’s vibrant Columbia Street Waterfront District.
American Black Walnut is one of the most prized species of North American hardwoods for both its unique aesthetic and superior performance. It is often praised for its resistance to rot and its durability, known for shrinking and swelling less than other woods. Black Walnut is much sought after for its rich color ranging from a chocolate brown to purplish black with dark streaking at the heart. Sapwood can range from a soft yellow to almost white. The wood is most commonly steamed to blend the sapwood more closely with the dark, rich tones of the heartwood.

reSAWN’s WILLIAMSPORT is select grade American Black Walnut that is prefinished with our 100% VOC free, all natural hardwax oil. This matte oil finish both accentuates the natural color and grain patterns in the walnut, and protects the wood, providing excellent stain resistance and repairability. The hardwax oil finish can easily be spot repaired and never requires the floor to be sanded and refinished.
