Announcement was made today of Fishing Tackle Corporation joining the Outdoor Channel’s Fishing University TV show for the 2014 season.

12/10/2013 (press release: DebraT) // Santa Fe, TN, USA // Debra Talley

“We are excited to announce a new fishing lure to our viewers”, said Debra Talley, Vice President of Program Development. “Freedom Tackle Corporation will help us kick off the 2014 television season as one of our newest sponsors. The owners, brothers, Michael and Nick Tamburro, are excited about their product and passionate about the design– a design that will revolutionize the way anglers use jigs and jigheads”, she continued.

“Freedom Tackle Corp. is proud to announce its partnership with Fishing University”, said Michael Tamburro, President of Freedom Tackle Corporation. “We are excited to partner with Fishing University, hosted by Charlie Ingram and Ray Brazier. As designers of the ‘next generation’ of fishing products, we believe in educating and supporting the ‘next generation’ of anglers. Fishing University is a great partnership that can help us do that. They play a key role in fostering the passion of fishing to young men and women across the USA in their Back To School program they present at schools at each filming location. Freedom Tackle allows you to create your own combination of jig and hook/bait; we like to say ‘Create and Conquer’ – Nothing beats catching a fish on something that you created”, said Tamburro.

Freedom Tackle’s complete line up of products allow the angler to customize their presentation to tailor his or her fishing conditions. As a result the “Freedom Live Action Hybrid Jig” was born. They have taken the jig which has not really changed over the years, and developed an internal capsule which allows the angler to remove the hook. Now the angler can choose the manufacturer and style of hook, however the hooks that are supplied with the jig are a premium chemically sharpened black nickel hook. As a result of this new attachment the hooks have the “freedom” to give the bait and jig head action never seen before. Hooking percentage is increased and the fish cannot get leverage on the bait, therefore less fish are lost .The best part of the new “live action hybrid” jig is that each angler now can create their own “magic bait” because all anglers are looking for the edge.

“I was excited about this new innovative design from the first moment I saw it at I-CAST this year”, said Charlie Ingram, co-host of Fishing University. “The opportunity to introduce this design and their products to our viewers is exciting. It will be a design that will completely change the way all of us as anglers have rigged our equipment for years. Having the ability to effortlessly change heads, and remove the hook from the jig is such a time-saver that is so important in tournament fishing. For our weekend anglers, it offers the opportunity to customize their lure to fit the conditions of their home water. The freedom of being able to change the hook, means never having to throw your favorite jig, head, or skirt away. It’s really great stuff and Ray and I look forward to hearing from our viewers once they see it on the show”, said Ingram.

Fishing University is sponsored by Legend Boats, Honda Marine, the State of Tennessee, Jackson Kayak, Power Tech, Spro, Tuf-Line, Buckeye Lures, Hammer Rods, Freedom Lures, T-H Marine and Floatback Lures.
