Advertising Campaign Launched To Fill 30,000 New Jobs In NSW By 2018

/EINPresswire.com/ The carecareers job site has launched a state-wide advertising blitz aimed at encouraging NSW residents to consider a career in the community care sector.

It is estimated that the growth in the NSW disability sector will create in excess of 30,000 new jobs by 2018. This is a direct result of investment by the NSW Government and the proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Scott Holz, National Disability Services NSW State Manager, said, “The rollout of the full NDIS across NSW will see the number of people with severe and profound disability receiving support grow from around 50,000 in 2012 to 140,000 by 2018. This is an increase of 180% over the next five years.

“We know that just over 30,000 people currently work to support people with disability. Under the NDIS the focus is on staff delivering front line services. We can reasonably expect the workforce to expand to support the large number of new service users. A conservative estimate would be that 30,000 new positions will be created.

“Today we are launching an advertising blitz aimed to encourage NSW residents to consider a job in the community care sector. The suite of carecareers ads promotes these rewarding careers.

“The carecareers team provide a fantastic service. Their website is a jobs board and is packed with resources designed to assist prospective ‘career changes’ in finding a new job.

“Since carecareers launched in January 2010 we have listed 17,000 job advertisements and assisted 28,000 registered candidates, two-thirds of which are what we would call ‘career changers’.”

The ad launched today by NSW Minister for Ageing and Minister for Disability Services, The Hon. Andrew Constance, features Nicky a direct care worker.

A few years ago Nicky went back to South Africa and cared for her mother in the last weeks of her life. After returning to Australia she moved from her successful advertising career and took a job as a carer. The change in her life has been obvious. Even her kids have commented on how happy she is now. Nicky herself has said of her career change, “It’s the best job I’ve ever had.”

Scott Holz, concluded, “Nicky is a great example of the kind of person the carecareers campaign is all about. She already had a successful career but she wanted to give something back to the community. And since having this realisation she has successfully transitioned into the community care sector.

“We are looking for another 30,000 Nicky’s by 2018.”
