A local school boy has created a name for a street at one of the town’s new homes developments letting town planners and technical departments take a break!

Luke Dickinson, age 10, a pupil at St George’s School in Gainsborough won a competition to name the street in a new phase of Miller Homes’ popular Brooklands development located on the outskirts of the town.

‘Maybell Close’ was the name created by Luke for a cul-de-sac which is currently under construction and will feature three and four bedroom homes.

“I was really pleased to find out I’d won the competition and will be really proud to see the road signs in place,” said Luke. “I thought of the name as I was walking round the development on our school visit earlier this year, and just thought it sounded nice.”

“We think that ‘Maybell Close’ is a great name and offer our thanks and congratulations to Luke for thinking of it,” said Sarah Whinfrey sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “It will be nice to have a road on our development named by a local person which will always be his claim to fame and we enjoyed working with the school and its pupils to find a suitable name.”

Clair Steers, Teaching Assistant at St George’s School who accompanied Luke on his visit to Brooklands commented, “We are very pleased that Luke won the competition and it will be lovely for him to have made a lasting impression on the town where he grew up. It will be a great story to tell his grandchildren and even show them the street he named!”

Building has started on the latest phase at Brooklands with a selection of three and four bedroom housetypes being constructed. Selected purchase initiatives are available including MiWay, NewBuy and Miller Homes’ unique Home Exchange scheme which is designed to help prospective buyers who currently have a property to sell.

Brooklands is located on the outskirts of Gainsborough, yet is close enough to benefit from all the amenities that this bustling town offers which includes transport links, excellent shopping at Marshall’s Yard and local community amenities.

The sales centre at Brooklands, Gainsborough, DN21 1PL is open Thursday – Monday from 10.30am – 5.30pm. Alternatively, call 0800 840 8584 or visit www.millerhomes.co.uk.
